What am I using this moment
Started from 2010, I used Node.js at server-side development, Backbone.js as frontend MVC framework, Bootstrap as responsive layout, MongoDB as database server. I adpot those technologies more than 5 projects.
Thanks to Cordova, I developed an Android App for HK Gov Environmental Protection Department which using in Shatin Community Green Station to help collect different types of recyclables.
I setup, deploy, configure and monitor the Node server Apps on Amazon AWS, Google Compute Engine and Digital Ocean where the O/S running Ubuntu Linux. Moreoever, my Apps upload files to Amazon S3 via the API.

I designed and devleoped this Meteor web portal for a 3D printing manufacturer in HK. The portal provides a STL files (standard 3D file format) marketplace which let registered-members to upload and sell their STL files. Of course they can submit the STL files to my client for large quantity printing in industrial grade quality. The biggest challenge of this project is I've used many Meteor packages such as Autoform, orion CMS, collection FS. The benefit is I reduced at least 30% coding time. |

"Shatin Community Green Station (CGS)" is sponsored by HK Gov Environmental
Protection Department and Christian Family Service Centre. My responsible for system arhitect and development. The system included 5 modules:
1) Web portal (designed by colleague: Ray), 2) NodeJS server APp with RESTful interface, 3) Cordova Android tablet App for staffs,
4) CMS website for staffs, and 5) Admin console for manager. The biggest challenge of this project is I needed to implement QR-Code scanning function in the tablet App. Thanks to Cordova does exist a QR-code scanning plug-in. |

web site for the company portal, but also a CMS system (Logic-CMS version 1) which allows site admin staffs to update the web portal data DIY. The data includes products, categories, news, profile, events... The portal and CMS are written in MEAN stack. |

| UShowtime.com is an Australia based printing company mainly receive online printing orders. The printing products including name cards, posters, brochures, banners... etc. The biggest problem is to handle the print files which uploaded by member and download it at production staffs. I developed a module which directly upload the printing files to Amazon S3. The files doesn't passthrough server App. That mean it reduces lot of data transfer charges from cloud provider. |

| Cfsc KPI intranet is developed for Christian Family Service Centre which keeping track all staffs &s; units (outlets) performance. All the Cfsc staffs required to submit the results via the web interface. The greatest succeed of this project was that I designed a responsive web which let all staffs very easy to do submission from lot of keys. I've optimized and used of all Bootstrap 3 controls to produce the interface. As the result all staffs didn't required training to use the interface. (please see the image 3) |

Build.IT is a subsidiary of Sun Fook Kong Group which
help their clients to implement BIM in construction industry.
I worked as part-time developer for Build.IT in 2013. I
developed a Worker Management Cloud (WMC) within 6 months which is to
help safety department to keep all worker training records. Before WMC,
the staffs handle lot of Excel files to calculate the training time.
I developed a Windows desktop App which scans worker paper form. The form printed with QR-codes for each worker (see image 3).
The secretary scans the forms into the regular copier in PDF file format.
The WMC desktop App can open the PDF and automatically recognise the QR-codes, upload the attendance records to cloud server App. This automation
process dramatically reduces many manpowers. The biggest challenge of this project I needed to implement several open-sources frameworks such as OpenCV (OCR recognise the scanned forms), Zxing (QR-Code C# encode/decode) and Ghostscript (open PDF file in C#) |

| TinTin Photobook is a large scale HTML5 online editing photobook webapp which developed for TinTinPhoto.com. End-users can upload high-resolution digital camera images directly from browser into browser cache rather than upload to server. All operations operate in client browser even final high-resolution photo pages rendering. The Node.js server App only receive the rendered images. The webapp implemented tons of HTML5 new features such as canvas, localstorage, Ajax, animation, drag & drop, Google Web Fonts, context image pixel-by-pixel manipulation. And lots of image algorithms (which converted from C++ to Javascript) applied in this webapp. The biggest challenge is the image multi-resolution algorithm. Since nowadays all digital camera at least 10M pixels. It is impossible to operate the high-res images when editing. As a result, I developed a image projection algorithmto manipulate the low-res image on-screen. When performing final rendering, it generates 300 DPI iamge (which required by PhotoBook publish machine) and upload to the server page by page. This guaranty the output quality is highest without lose of colors. |

ZAP is a web-base realtime quotation system for Zurich's
advisors (clients). The clients can maintain their own customers
and quotations. I worked as full-time senior web developer. I decided
to use Backbone.js as frontend MVC. The killer feature of ZAP is real-time. This feature requires frequently call to backend to get the results.
I also designed the client/server interface in RESTful. I sent the JSON
requirement to backend colleagues. Then I adopted Ajax chaining (defer Ajax) calls to get serveral results in same time.
This is the most difficult task of this project. In the six months contract period. I've finished 4 insurance products which was started from scratch. |

BTS allows diners to order their meals in their own smartphones. The placed order automatically sent to the kitchen PC to print a slip, that's indicating the kitchen what to cook. The order slip prints with a barcode. When check the bill, the cashier scan the barcode. The total amount will be calculated automatically. Although this project is terminated. I faced biggest problem is to handle the food packages commonly have complexity combination such as different sweet/spicy levels. It's very hard to handle in SQL. That led me to learn NoSQL. |
